We will continue to expand Qnext mobile capabilities as we see larger storage and more embedded technologies that will equate mobile device’s functionality to that of a PC.
No, the basic version of Qnext will always be free. It is our plan to offer certain services for a fee in the future.
Absolutely not! Qnext is all about the freedom to communicate and share with your friends no matter what program they use. You can chat, share photos, stream your music, and transfer files with all of your messenger buddies, no matter what network they are on. However, there are some cool things that only Qnext users can do with each other, like 4-way video conferencing, 8-way audio conferencing, multiplayer games, and much more!
Qnext is a secure unified communications and sharing suite that operates best with an open communication channel between users. Qnext uses advanced connection technology that supports UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) devices and in most cases will automatically configure your router for the best connection.
To view the type of connection that was established, go to File > Contact Options > Connection or from Qnext Desktop select Settings > Contact Options. If All Incoming Connections – Direct, this means that you have the best connection possible. If your router doesn’t support UPnP or UPnP is not enabled or if you are behind a restrictive firewall or a router, we suggest that you will manually configure your device(s) in order to open this channel for the best performance. If necessary, please follow the instructions in the Online Manual under the Support section on Qnext website on how to do this. In most cases you will be automatically connected. First, install Qnext on the other computer. Launch Qnext and click the Retrieve link on the main login screen. Enter your User ID and password. Now you can access your Qnext account and any Zones available to you.
At this time the answer is Yes. To be able to share your content with other devices that belong to you such as a Notebook or mobile, you are required to open additional accounts. We are planning to allow one primary account for all devices in the future.
Qnext is very secure. Logon is 512 bit encrypted and data communication is SSL 192-bit encrypted. We should point out that when using Qnext to talk to friends on other IM networks, we can only maintain the level of security employed by those networks.
Yes, it is private. Qnext facilitates the connection between users and does not “Listen” or store any of the communications or the data that is transferred between users.
Currently Qnext supports MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, ICQ, Facebook, MySpace, Google Talk, iChat and Jabber. We are working on expanding this list.
You could have ten accounts on the same network! Once you add an IM account, it will be available at the bottom of your contact list for easy access. If you want to add another account, just click the Add a contact or an IM or email account icon, and Add IM account from the same IM network again. Now there will be two logos for that network in your Contact panel, one for each account.
You sure can. Qnext supports importing whole or partial email address books from MSN Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, and Gmail. Once added to your contact list, you can send quick emails off, just as you would instant messages. This capability was mainly designed to allow users to share Zone content with any email contact even if they are not Qnext users. Some of the configuration includes the ability to synchronize the email contacts when Qnext starts.
Yes, free and easy. In fact, you can host a Voice Call with up to eight Qnext Friends, and a Video Call with up to four!
Only the best thing ever! Seriously though, a Qnext zone is a place where you can put as much music, photos, or files as you want and share it with anyone anywhere. When they access it, they can listen to your music, view your photos, or download your files and photos! The best part is that you don’t have to upload your stuff anywhere; a Zone literally takes seconds to create and share.
When the Zone is shared with users from other IM protocols or email contacts, those users will receive a link to the shared Zone. By clicking on the link they will access the shared content from any standard web browser. You can share with anyone even if they do not have Qnext installed.
No. You can send a zone link in an email or Instant Message. The recipient simply clicks on the link and can view your photos, listen to your music, or download your files from any standard web browser.
Yes, your computer must be turned on and Qnext must be running in order for your friends to access the zones that you share with them. This is because Qnext shares your content securely directly from your computer; that’s why it only takes seconds to share an unlimited amount of music, photos, and files.
No limit, as many as you wish.
When someone shares a zone with you they can send you an invite to the Zone and you will receive a notification message. In any event you can just click on the ‘+ sign’ beside their name to see all the zones that they are sharing with you or go to Qnext Desktop and select “Browse Friend’s Content”.
You can stream MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, AU, AAC (MP4), WAVE, WMA, and M4a (AAC for MAC) audio files in a Music zone.
You can share JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TGA and TIFF images in a Photo zone.
Drag and Drop the files or folders onto the contact’s name in the Contact Panel or in the Qnext File Center window. There is no file size limit when the transfer is between Qnext users. External Instant Messaging protocols such as Yahoo, AIM, MSN, iChat, Jabber and ICQ, may have some file transfer size restrictions and may not support all of the Qnext features. Note that you can also create a file Zone and share it with anyone anywhere, again no file size limit.
